A Verizon day in the life with The Mowglis

14 12 2013

I travelled up to Washington D.C. a few weeks ago to posse up with The Mowglis to document a day in the life as they came to town for a show.  Verizon has them hooked up with some 4g hot spots so they take their social media pretty seriously! Take a look at the video and some of the bts pics after the jump!

After wrapping up with 6 weeks of NASCAR I had a few days back home to regroup, work with a couple of local clients (which I always love to do!) and then head back out. This time, Rochester, NY for the PGA 2013 Championship at Oak Hill Country Club.

Here’s a nice little video on the history of Oak Hill for PGA.com

check out some photos after the break.

They call me the drifter

27 10 2012

“Hey Michael, you available for a shoot next week? We’ll have 2 guys in a car so it might be going out of range for your wireless at camera, can you handle something like this? There will be a GoPro camera in the car as well.” Thats the email I get. My job is all about problem solving and as I’m reading the email ideas are already flowing. My solution flows like a river in a quick reply all, signed, “lets rock and roll!”. And rock and roll we did!

chillaxin in a kayak

2 12 2011

Back in the summer I ventured out the coast of North Carolina to work on a series of travel videos for Visitnc.com with fellow buddy/DP Brett Mullen. It was a busy/fun/tiring/adventurous gig covering 3 topics of popular things of that area. 1 of the 3 topics were kayak tours. We ventured to two locations, a salt marsh off of Oak Island and then a black water creek a bit more inland. We had a tour guide for each location and various tourists taggin along. The agency over the project had 2 of their people in tow as well, lucky for me, they have awesome rowing skillz as Brett and I had jobs to do, we had no business rowing a freaking boat! The following video is the result of those hard days of work..

and now Brett and I want to buy kayaks…

Check out the other 2 videos after the jump

ESPNU’s Road Trip

4 10 2011

Look Ma! I’m on the teevee!

Had the pleasure to work with Beaudry Film works this past weekend on their show Road Trip for ESPNU. The Show will be airing this Wednesday at 6:30pm eastern time on ESPNU(its usually at 7:30 but this week there is a schedule change).

Here’s the camera man, Robb Shaw and myself after getting rained on in 40 degree temps, aka not so fun. But other than that, an awesome crew and a good time hanging around Blacksburg and VA Tech!

bag slate for DSLR timecode work

3 06 2011

One thing I’ve been pretty active with is the whole DSLR movement. I did a post a while back about using a DSLR, separate recorder and plural eyes to sync in final cut pro. Thats been a pretty easy deal for most productions but now I have devised a new way to get all technical with post syncing that involves no need for a plugin! All it takes is just a quick glimpse of my bag slate for camera while its rolling and you’re good to go. Here, ladies and gents, is my bag’s mini timecode slate:
